Through collections, instruction, facilities, and services, Pierce College Library provides leadership and support for the curricular and intellectual information needs of the college community. Collection development is the means by which the Library provides organized collections of print and non-print resources that will meet instructional requirements, as well as the cultural and recreational needs of the college community. Collection development is an ongoing process, undertaken by library faculty, with input from discipline faculty, administrators, staff, and students. This policy is intended to guide the building and enrichment of the collection in accordance with the missions of Pierce College and the Pierce College Library by stating the guidelines and principles with which the process of selecting, de-selecting, materials will proceed. To accommodate change, the policy will be reviewed and revised on a regular basis.
